About Dr. David Hite

Dr. David Hite, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in 2013, graduating summa cum laude. He completed his undergraduate studies in Exercise Science at Brigham Young University, where he graduated cum laude. Dr. Hite’s interest in optometry developed as a child watching his grandmother, who lived with his family, suffer the effects of end-stage macular degeneration. Seeing her frustrations living with life-changing vision loss resonated with him. He decided to pursue a career where he could develop lasting patient relationships and provide instant improvement to his patients’ quality of life. He fondly recalls his favorite patient story of a Hispanic patient who, at 74, had never had an eye exam. Being fluent in Spanish, Dr. Hite provided a thorough exam and found that she had advanced cataracts. Working with a local surgeon, her cataracts were removed, which profoundly affected her life. He remembers the next time she came back to see him, bringing dozens of photos of her grandchildren—grandchildren she could never see clearly before due to her cataracts. In his free time away from the office, Dr. Hite enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and doing handyman projects.
