“I did very little research on Gaze before my first appointment with them today, so I was absolutely bowled over by how incredibly welcoming Dr. Ah-Kiné's practice is from the moment I stepped inside to the moment I left. The interior of the practice itself is decorated with obvious delight and joy, with a clear emphasis on being a safe space for clients. Dr. Ah-Kiné fosters a sense of relaxed competence and straightforward communication that is all too often a rare thing in medical professionals. They explained the procedures as they performed them, gave no judgements or lectures for any information I offered (I'm getting better about sleeping in contacts, I promise), and overall gave me their full attention for the length of my appointment. Mac was similarly a warm and welcoming help in discussing options for contact pricing and glasses, and the front desk staffperson was prompt, friendly, and had truly fantastic eyeliner wings. Overall: Gaze is 100% my new go-to eye doctor. ”

About Dr. Diane Ah-Kine Ng Poon Hing
Dr. Diane Ah-Kiné (O.D., FAAO) has over 13 years of experience in primary care optometry. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry and holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Ah-Kiné is residency-trained in pediatric optometry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She has taught as an adjunct faculty member at the New England College of Optometry, focusing on pediatrics, community health, and working in a mobile clinic serving K-12 students in disadvantaged communities. She also serves as a board member for Partners for Visual Health and volunteers as an optometrist on the annual eye campaign to El Salvador.
Dr. Ah-Kiné says, “The patients who want to have a relationship with their eye care provider who gets to know them over the years—those are the folks who make me passionate about my work and dedicated to continuously bettering myself as a healthcare provider.” She aims to provide the best patient care possible while striving to meet patients where they are in their eye health journey.
Dr. Ah-Kiné lives in the greater Boston area with her partner and three rescue doggos. She is actively involved in several social justice causes because she believes we can all work to make the world a more just and equitable place. For fun, she fosters adoptable dogs through All Dog Rescue, trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and can be found enjoying the warmer months zipping around on her trusty Ruckus scooter.
