About Dr. Dorothy Hakimian
As an experienced Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Dr. Hakimian’s mission is to create an environment where every patient feels heard, seen, and comfortable. She’s committed to providing comprehensive care through all stages of life and to build nurturing relationships. Her goal is to empower women with the knowledge and care they need to make informed decisions about their health, ensuring their well-being and quality of life
After graduating from Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Health Sciences from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Dr. Hakimian went on to study medicine at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Jonesboro, AR. She conducted her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where she was selected to serve as Chief Resident. Dr. Hakimian is also a certified DaVinci surgeon. Dr. Hakimian sees patients in our Buffalo Grove and Skokie care centers and delivers babies and conducts surgery at Endeavor Health (Evanston, Glenbrook and Skokie Hospitals).
Dr. Hakimian has received numerous awards including the 2023 Outstanding Resident in Gynecologic Oncology from the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. In addition to her studies, Dr. Hakimian has been active in research, most recently presenting at the Society of Maternal & Fetal Medicine Annual Conference on Vaccine Hesitancy in Gravid Patient.
Outside the office, Dr. Hakimian enjoys spending time with her husband, Ari, her son, Kobe, (who she says naturally loves basketball because of his name), and their mini dachshund, Addison. Some of her favorite activities are attending Chicago sports events, dining out, and discovering new places on the Northshore. She is also a certified yoga teacher and enjoys taking yoga classes as often as possible to "stay grounded and strong".

I scheduled an IUD insertion appointment and was informed after I booked on Zocdoc that since I am a new patient, this would be a consultation, not an insertion, which was understandable. The consultation was great and I booked the insertion for about a month later, along with an annual exam as the doctor recommended getting them done together.
I went in for that appointment and was informed that either insurance couldn't do both at the same appointment, or that the appointment was scheduled incorrectly, but either way I would be getting only the annual (after taking pain medication in preparation for getting an IUD).
I was told to schedule the IUD insertion ASAP, which of course wasn't for several weeks. Then I was told (when I asked if they could in any way squeeze me in earlier due to this error) that I was given the option to do the annual or IUD and chose the annual.
Not only was my entire reason for going in the first place ignored, now I'm being told it was my choice.

Dr. Hakimian is truly exceptional! From the moment I walked into her office, she and her staff made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Dr. Hakimian has such a warm and friendly demeanor that instantly put my nerves to rest, and her compassionate approach exceeded all my expectations.
Her staff is equally wonderful—supportive, kind, and completely non-judgmental. It’s clear they genuinely care about their patients and go out of their way to make every visit a positive experience.
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Hakimian and her team. I only wish there were 20 more Dr. Hakimians in every medical field because she sets the bar impossibly high! If you’re looking for a gynecologist who combines expertise with a caring, professional demeanor look no further.

I had such a wonderful experience for my first visit! Dr. Hakimian Is the first doctor I’ve ever had that really listened and asked questions to understand my symptoms and then provided some options. The appointment was quick and though pap smears are not my favorite type of appointment I really didn’t experience any discomfort. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Hakimian (there’s a reason she’s so highly rated).
