About Dr. Elena Geller
Dr. Geller is a board-certified ophthalmologist who joined our practice and is seeing patients in our offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. She is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and an oculoplastic surgeon with over 10 years of experience.
Dr. Geller received her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by a year of internal medicine training. She then completed her residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in oculoplastics at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts.
Dr. Geller treats a wide variety of ocular conditions in the office. She performs cataract surgery, offering laser assisted surgery as well as advanced technology intraocular lenses. Dr. Geller also performs a variety of eyelid surgeries, including upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, entropion and ectropion repair, among others. Oculoplastics procedures performed by Dr. Geller are both functional and cosmetic in nature. Dr. Geller is great, but my experience was sullied by a large bill I received after thinking my insurance and copay was all that was needed. I contacted the billing dept as indicated on the bill and spoke with a rather unhelpful billing manager who refused to resubmit through my insurance. There's also no way to pay online so I have no choice but to call again and speak with this person which I am now dreading. It's a shame that the administrative experience is now driving me away from this competent and helpful doctor, but I absolutely refuse to go back now.

The visit was fine. The problem is I was notified a week later that Dr. Geller had left the practice. I would have expected that she would have mentioned she was leaving instead of telling me to schedule an appointment with her for a month later. It's strange. The practice does not have a doctor who does oculoplasty to replace her so I had to find another doctor while in the midst of treatment. I'm not sure where or why there was failure to communicate, but it's very unfortunate.

Don't recommend for televisits, her focus was on rushing through the visit and recommending something quick as fast as possible, and scheduling many unnecessary follow-ups, presumably to maximize revenue. I found that the condition I actually had didn't need three different visits, but she wanted all of these (only 5 minutes each!) and then had the nerve to not answer questions and rush away (saying, next time). Strongly recommend another doctor that actually cares.
