About Dr. Elias Akl
Dr. Elias Akl is a board certified Allergist and Immunologist who received his medical doctorate degree from University of Balamand in Lebanon and completed his internal medicine residency at Mt Sinai (Englewood program). He completed his allergy and immunology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr Akl is also board certified in internal medicine and is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (FAAAAI) and sits on various committees for the AAAAI. Dr Akl sees patients of all ages and is interested in food allergy and eosinophilic esophagitis, chronic urticaria and asthma as well as immune deficiency diseases. He speaks English, Arabic and French.

Traveled 1.5 hours and was totally worth it! Dr. Akl is very comprehensive in his discovery and diagnosis and helped explain possible reasons for the chronic condition, how to treat, and next steps with testing as well.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

It took over an hour to be called back for my appointment. I brought my allergy skin-test results from visit at different practice and voiced my concerns and interest in further testing. Doctor told me allergies were likely not real (but to continue to avoid the allergens because I’m pregnant), that I couldn’t take any allergy tests while pregnant and then sent me home and told me to reschedule for after I give birth. Was > $100 out of pocket. Charged for nothing and gained nothing. Paying > $100 to be gaslit about my allergy test at other practice. Unreal experience, I will not be returning to this practice. I would never recommend this place to a friend and will be seeking allergy testing and treatment elsewhere after birth.

This office lost information about my insurance. Even though it was the same insurance I had used in the same office in the same year. They were so confused by this and unhelpful. Instead of working through this, they forced me to wait for an hour even when I presented multiple forms of verification, then said I would risk not seeing the doctor. This office is so poorly managed that they prefer long hours of bureaucratic mess to actually allowing patients to see the doctors that they request. I’ve never had a more absurd experience at a medical office. Their system failure actually prevents people from seeing their doctors. The admin told me this happens “all the time.”

Great experience given the situation. I had been desperate to see someone ASAP regarding a face issue I suspected may have been the result of allergies.
I was extremely lucky to be able to see Dr. Akl; I had initially gotten referrals for UPenn and Jefferson but was told it'd be 3-6 months to be able to secure an appointment as a new patient . I was able to get an appointment through Dr. Akl's office in days.
At my appointment, I was able to get advice and direction to help identify my condition and was written an Rx to help alleviate my symptoms. I immediately felt better after being seen with this provider. Definitely recommend.

Extremely impressed with the entire experience. The office contacted me ahead of time to complete paperwork to expedite the visit. I was seen fairly promptly by Dr. Akl. He listened to my concerns and sent in the nurse to start the testing. When the testing didn’t yield obvious results, he assessed appropriately and provided a plan of action which included relaying further testing/immunotherapy options if needed.

Dr. Akl was great. He listened to all of my concerns, made sure to address them all, and ensured I felt good about the treatment options. He was very thorough and knowledgable. Everyone in the office was responsive, helpful, and kind. They were upfront about payment and talked with my insurance for me. I will definitely continue to return!
