About Dr. Elliott Shapiro
Dr. Elliott Shapiro received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. He specializes in hard-to-fit patients and custom contact lenses.
Dr. Shapiro is the recipient of the President’s Club award from LensCrafters and is a member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association. He is also a consultant for Alcon and was a regional manager for Eyexam of CA (LensCrafters) for six years. Dr. Shapiro has been in practice for over 35 years.
Dr. Shapiro grew up in Long Beach, NY, on the south shore of Long Island. He enjoys playing basketball, walking his dog on the beach, biking, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
In addition to running Shapiro Family Optometry, Dr. Shapiro is a consultant for Alcon, focusing on training optometrists and eye care professionals on best practices, industry standards, and tips for proper use of daily disposable contact lenses, particularly multifocal contact lens fittings. In this unique role, Dr. Shapiro conducts on-site training at Alcon’s facilities in Fort Worth and, on an as-needed basis, provides hands-on training at doctors’ offices throughout the country. He is also a member of the Alcon Speakers Bureau. Apparently, we neglected to mention another of Dr. Shapiro’s hobbies—he enjoys traveling!

Zocdoc says this provider is in network with my insurance, but I showed up at my appointment, and they just then checked my insurance (despite me submitting it beforehand) and said they could not confirm it. They did not attempt to call my insurance company. They wanted me to just take the appointment and submit a claim to my insurance after (without guarantee that my insurance would accept this claim). Sounded sketchy, so I cancelled the appointment. Will be finding a more reliable provider

My husband and I visited Dr Shapiro at LensCrafters in University Town Center. The office was well equipped, the staff was competent and friendly, and Dr Shapiro was great. We highly recommend him for eye treatment.
