About Dr. Farhana Yunus

Dr. Farhana Yunus was born in Union City, New Jersey, and soon after, her family moved to the Northwestern Panhandle of Florida. Raised in a small town, she embraced the culture of family and community, carrying it with her to the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics. During college, she was actively involved in Student Government and many other organizations. After completing her degree, she taught Clinical Nutrition at St. Matthews University Medical School. Driven by her passion for eye care, Dr. Yunus pursued and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University. While there, she participated in numerous organizations, including Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity and Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Yunus is Board Certified through the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. She has served as treasurer of the Volusia Optometric Society, is a member of the Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians, and serves as an Optometry Divas Ambassador. Dr. Yunus provides quality eye care through caring hands. She is a mother of five children, a Girl Scout troop leader, and serves as Juliette Coordinator for the Windsong community of Citrus Council. She loves to travel, is an avid reader, enjoys horseback riding and kayaking, and completed the Disney full marathon in 2017. Dr. Yunus understands that when people experience blurred vision, eye-related diseases, or trauma, they can feel overwhelmed by uncertainty and fear of vision loss. Her great passion is to bring personalized, compassionate eye care tailored to each individual's unique needs. She helps her patients-including children, adults, and families-find comfort in knowing their complete eye care needs will be met with competent, caring hands.
