About Dr. Gary Jaffe

Gary F. Jaffe, M.D., is a board certified ophthalmologist and has been practicing since 1981. Dr. Jaffe earned his medical degree in 1978 from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He went on to do an internship at St Vincent Hospital and Health Care Center in 1979 followed by an ophthalmology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital – Jackson Health System in 1981. Dr. Jaffe is also an American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Fellow.

I had very high hopes for my appointment with Dr. Jaffe. I've suffered with dry eyes for 10+ years and was concerned with increased blurriness and discomfort in my left eye. The front desk worker was pleasant and the tech who did my intake exam was fine. They both stated I would be meeting with Dr. Saker. I was surprised when Dr. Jaffe came in instead. He was dismissive and condescending, ruining my day and shaking me up for several days. He told me I work in IT and to blink more and use drops, basically pushing me out. I tried to have a conversation with him about his findings- he scoffed when I told him I've had corneal perforations in the past. He told me to go to Costco if I wanted an eye exam and to buy some eye drops (no recommendations or samples). I asked about tear duct plugs, which had been helpful in the past. He said no, he doesn't do those. When pushed, he said I could make a different appointment with Dr. Saker (who I was actually supposed to see). Not helpful or caring!
