About Dr. Gianinna Saa
With extensive advanced training in visual screening, eye surgery, and diagnosing chronic conditions, Nina Saa, OD, offers both routine checkups and urgent-care eye treatment. Dr. Saa welcomes patients to VistaSite Eye Care in New York City.
As a Bronx native, Dr. Saa stayed in her hometown for much of her education and training. She completed her undergraduate studies in science from Pace University in New York City. Dr. Saa then conducted research projects in optometry with State University of New York College of Optometry. After focusing on vision screening research, Dr. Saa ultimately graduated with her doctor of optometry degree from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.
Throughout her internship training, Dr. Saa was able to care for patients of all ages, from children to geriatric adults. She went through comprehensive hands-on training with vision therapy exercises, syntonics (light frequencies), and atypical tailored treatment for the most complex of eye conditions and surgeries.
Whenever possible, Dr. Saa strives to serve her community and provide care for the underserved. She’s spent time working with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity on their Caribbean mission trips to give free eye exams and eye care for patients in need.
Dr. Saa’s fluency in both English and Spanish allows patients of multiple cultural backgrounds to effectively communicate with her. Her patients commend her caring and compassionate bedside manner.

The doctor was knowledgeable and thorough . Unfortunately, my experience after the appointment was frustrating. I did not receive my prescription at the visit, and obtaining it afterward required multiple calls with inconsistent and inaccurate information. I was told at different times that I had to come in person, call back later, or that my prescription could not be shared by phone or email but could only be sent by fax due to HIPAA —that is legally incorrect. When I asked for help accessing the patient portal, the associate seemed uninformed and showed little urgency. I was also not provided with a proper invoice, only a carbon copy of a sales order that cannot be used for insurance reimbursement. Failure to provide my prescription at the time of the exam and the barriers placed on accessing it afterward are inconsistent with the FTC Eyeglass Rule. The lack of modern systems and professional follow-up overshadowed the positive aspects of the visit. I will not be returning.

She was incredible! She explained everything, was honest and candid in her explanations, and was super relatable. My primary issues with my last optometrist were constant upselling, overcharging for copays, and it took so many probing questions to get to the root of her recommendations. Dr. Saa was the opposite in the best way.

The doctor was really great amd knowledgeable about my condition.
I was very satisfied with her level of interest and engagement in my medical condition, and gave me answers and course of actions that are beyond satisfactory.
However the wait was too long provided the reason for my visit was primarily for pain. My appointment was at 4:30. I arrived at 4 pm. Was not seen before 5:30 and no explanation was given.

The doctors office was very professional but friendly. The doctor was very knowledgeable. There was a mix up with the type of appt contacts vs glasses but it was easily fixed. The only negative was that I waited 40 minutes to see the doctor. I will definitely continue to see this optometrist.

Everyone was friendly and professional. The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful. He didn’t shove name brand down my throat showed me what insurance would cover he even picked out a pair that was flattering and was not to expensive. The doctor listened to my concerns and explained everything that was done and what I need for my eyes.
