About Dr. Gila Leiter
Dr. Gila Leiter is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner with more than 35 years of experience caring for women in New York City. She is known for her compassionate, personalized approach and for guiding generations of women through every stage of life.
She specializes in high-risk and complex pregnancies, with particular expertise in vaginal births after cesarean (VBAC) and external cephalic version (ECV), for which she receives many referrals. Dr. Leiter also manages pregnancies complicated by hypertension, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and recurrent pregnancy loss, and she is committed to helping patients achieve a safe, calm, and pleasant birth experience.
In addition to obstetrics, Dr. Leiter provides comprehensive gynecologic care, including abnormal uterine bleeding, cancer and genetic screening, and contraception. She has extensive expertise in hormone replacement therapy, having prescribed it safely for many years, and also offers holistic approaches to managing perimenopause and menopause.
Dr. Leiter graduated with honors from Yeshiva University and earned her MD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Mount Sinai Hospital and continues as an Associate Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, mentoring students and residents.

Dr. Leiter was amazing! She took the time to listen to my concerns and asked me many, many questions to make sure she had all of the information she needed. She then laid out some treatment options and explained why she thought this was the best course of action. She was very thorough and I highly recommend her.

45 minute wait. I felt pushed to go on medication I said I did not want to be put back on without a clear enough explanation why. When the PA called to go over the test results I asked to speak to the doctor to ask more questions and was told the doctor is out for a month.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Leiter for many years now. I always feel like she doesn’t make a big deal about anything, big or small, which it puts me at ease since I literally freak out about every little thing when it comes to my health. Dr.Leiter is straight forward, caring, and honest. The wait time could be an issue though.
