Dr. Silcox is native to the Atlanta area. He joined Peachtree Orthopedics in March 2001 after practicing at Emory Clinic and Emory Spine Center for nine years. While at Emory, Dr. Silcox served on the faculty of the Emory University School of Medicine serving as chief of the spine surgery service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He also served as resident/spine surgery fellowship education coordinator for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Silcox served as president of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society from 2013 to 2014 and as secretary/treasurer 2009 until 2012. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed research publications primarily focused on topics relating to spine surgery and spinal disorders. He is additionally the author of six book chapters. He has served on the faculty of over eight dozen continuing medical education courses. He has been the principal investigator in the State of Georgia for two FDA investigational device exemption studies, and has participated in several other FDA and NIH studies. He continues to be active in clinical research and spine surgery device development. In the past four years, Dr. Silcox has taught hundreds of spine surgeons from across the United States and abroad the minimally invasive surgical technique known as oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF). Dr. Silcox is married and has two grown children. He enjoys serving his church in various roles. Additionally, he has previously volunteered his time to serve as a physician for the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games as well as various local college and professional sports teams.
