Heather Perez, PsyD, specializes in working with youth and families who have endured chronic developmental trauma and youth exhibiting emotional and behavioral dysregulation that impacts their daily functioning and interpersonal relationships. She emphasizes the importance of forming a trusting therapeutic relationship with each client and their family to provide the best environment for personal growth and the achievement of treatment goals. Dr. Perez is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned her Doctor of Psychology in Psychology at Midwestern University. Prior to joining Edgewood, she provided psychotherapy services and comprehensive psychological evaluations to youth, adults, and families in various settings. She worked in both hospital and outpatient environments, offering acute and long-term psychotherapy to children and adults exhibiting severe psychopathology related to suicidality, aggression, and insecure attachment patterns. Dr. Perez incorporates a developmental approach when working with clients and families by utilizing therapeutic techniques appropriate for each client's current level of functioning and presenting concerns. Consistent with this approach, she integrates a variety of treatment modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and play therapy to best serve the needs of each client and family.
