Elder Dr. Hewell B. Eaves was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his early teachings under the local pastorships of Elder Cecil R. R. Eaves and Rabbi John H. Eaves, Sr. Elder Eaves matriculated through the public schools of Duval County and ultimately graduated from William Marion Raines Senior High School. It was during his high school years that Elder Eaves began to discover and develop an appreciation for the arts. His love for music led him to join both the band and various choral ensembles. Inevitably, he took the skills that he learned and used them in the service of the Living God. Elder Eaves graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Pre-Med. He furthered his education at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Salus University, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2007. On April 11, 2015, Chief Rabbi Jehu August Crowdy, Jr., GFA, called Elder Hewell Eaves to the ministry. He was ultimately elevated to the position of Local Pastor of the Jacksonville congregation by the word of Chief Rabbi Phillip Eugene McNeil, GFA, in 2018. He succeeded Elder Samuel Joseph Eaves, I, who completed 29 years of service. Elder Eaves and his wife, St. Ruth, look forward to being of service to the Jacksonville congregation and community for years to come.
