About Dr. Ira Thorla

One of the founders of Louisiana Dermatology Associates, Dr. Ira Thorla Jr. has practiced in the Baton Rouge area since 1999. He specializes in surgical, cosmetic and general dermatology and is certified by the American Board of Dermatology. He attended LSU’s School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he also completed his residency. While in medical school, Dr. Thorla was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and is now a gratis faculty member for the LSU Department of Dermatology Residency Program. By continuing his education through the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Thorla makes it a point to stay current on dermatological diseases and treatments.

I had an unsuccessful attempt to call the office soon after my appointment was over but was unable to get anyone on the phone in order to change the drugstore that a prescription had been ordered. I was also shocked that my Medicare advantage plan had no coverage for the generic prescription that the doctor ordered for me. There should be a much more patient friendly phone access system.
