BYUN Dr. Irene Byun is a passionate and knowledgeable optometrist dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care to ensure her patients are seeing and feeling their best. While building strong relationships with her patients it is also pertinent to Dr. Byun that her patients’ eye health such as dry eye or ocular diseases are managed and all their visual needs in our digital world are fine-tuned, whether with fashionable eyewear or single vision, toric, or multifocal contact lenses. EDUCATION & TRAINING Dr. Byun received her Bachelors of Science in Biology at Emory University and completed her Doctor of Optometry Degree at SUNY College of Optometry. She completed her training at SUNY in-clinic specialties in vision therapy, ocular disease, and primary care, Gouverneur community hospital, Compton Eye Associates, and in a custom specialty contact lens clinic.

Given I had Lasik over 10 years ago, my trips to the optometrist have been infrequent. In the past two years I noticed a slight decline in my distance vision and decided to book a vision appointment at Cutler & Gross. Dr. Byun was extremely welcoming and spent considerable time with me explaining various aspects of my eye health. Her vast reservoir of knowledge was impressive and her friendly demeanor put me at ease in what might have been an anxiety inducing dive into a tricky topic. Dr. Byun is a warm physician. During my appointment, she made sure I was knowledgeable about what was happening and all the next steps. She was patient with all of my questions and took some extra time to go into more detail, even though I knew she didn't need to and was busy. Those little details matter a lot to me in the end.
