About Dr. James Sinoway

After attending Northeastern and Boston University, Dr.Sinoway went on to receive his Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University, where he graduated at the top of his class. He then completed his externship at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, affiliated with the University of Miami School of Medicine. Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is recognized as one of the world's finest and progressive centers for ophthalmic research and education. In 2007, it was rated the #1 eye hospital in the U.S. by US News and World Reports. Dr. Sinoway completed advanced training in the treatment of eye disease and specialized contact lens fittings, such as keratoconus. He is board certified by the American Board of Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association, The New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, The Optometric Retina Society and The Optometric Glaucoma Society.
Dr. Sinoway is recognized as one of America's Top Optometrists by the Consumers Research Council and in 1996 he was certified by TLC for the pre and post operative care of LASIK and PRK patients. He has over 17 years of experience managing refractive surgery patients and has provided eye care to over 100,000 patients.
When Dr. Sinoway is not seeing patients he enjoys playing basketball, tennis, reading and spending time with his wife and three children.

Horrible experience - had me moving in and out of examination rooms multiple times, getting up and down and having other professionals walking in and out during my eye exam; didn't tell me an exam they did wasn't covered by my insurance until AFTER they did it; tried to sell me additional exams that also weren't covered by insurance.
Very unprofessional setting and I will not be returning.

Quick visit, straight to the point eye exam. Dr. Sinoway also briefly discussed with me the pros and cons of LASIK and why I may / may not be a good fit for the procedure (good background as I was very early in my research and consideration of LASIK).

This is my first time seeing Dr. Sinoway and I was very happy with him and would request him in the future. I've been sleeping in my contacts and wearing them longer than the two weeks they were made for (I've told all of my doctors this for the 10+ years I've been wearing contacts) and he was the first doctor I've had actually tell me specifically how it affects my eyes. I will definitely be changing my bad habits!

He was fine but I spent the majority of my appointment with a seemingly young tech who was unprofessional and whose judgement I didn't trust. I would rather see a doc where my interactions will be with him and not with a tech who doesn't seem to know what she's doing.
