About Dr. Jeffrey Harter

Jeffrey Harter, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry where he was named to both the Beta Sigma and Gold Key Honor Societies. He also traveled to Paraguay during this time and helped provide free eye care to impoverished families. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pittsburgh State University graduating in 2005. Dr. Harter’s external rotations in his fourth year of college included the Optometric Clinic in Honolulu, Hawaii, as well as Choate Eye Associates in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Harter is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Missouri Optometric Association, as well as the Optometric Society of Greater Kansas City. Dr. Harter specializes in primary care, specialty contact lenses and myopia control. He is active with the Kansas City Free Eye Clinic and has previously served on the board of directors. Having an interest in optometry came at an early age for Dr. Harter due to having a surgery for strabismus when he was a child. He had always had a passion for science and an interest in the healthcare profession. Dr. Harter enjoys the relationships that he can build with his patients and the opportunity to be able to help them not only see well, but also improve their overall health and quality of life.
