Dr. Jeremy Carter, MD

Primary Care Doctor
2400 S Blvd, Ste 103, Charlotte, NC
Growing up in a tight-knit community in Alaska, surrounded by natural beauty, I developed a deep curiosity about the world around me. Biology came naturally, and a high school anatomy teacher in Anchorage sparked a lasting interest in physiology. I went on to study neuroscience and Arabic in college, and after living in the Middle East, southern Africa, and both rural and urban America, I saw firsthand the critical need for primary care and developed a strong interest in serving marginalized communities, including refugees and the LGBTQ+ community. Family medicine, a community-focused specialty, allows me to build close relationships with my patients while continuing to grow alongside an ever-evolving field. Those life experiences have given me a unique lens when it comes to patient care. When a patient comes to me with something complex or difficult to describe, I listen carefully, ask directed questions and work collaboratively toward a solution. For chronic conditions, I believe breaking things down into manageable steps for long-term success. Among the recognitions I'm proud of is being selected for the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2018, which recognizes medical students, residents and faculty who exemplify compassionate, patient-centered care through a peer-nomination process. In 2013, I was also selected as a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholar, chosen as one of 600 recipients from 6,000 applicants to participate in an intensive Arabic language program in Amman, Jordan - an experience that deepened my understanding of global perspectives and humanitarian challenges. Outside of medicine, you'll most likely find me outdoors. Cycling, hiking, camping, mountain trips and beach days are all fair game, though I'm equally content with a hammock and a good fire. Having moved to Charlotte from Chicago in 2026 with my partner to be closer to family, I've been pleasantly surprised by the weather.
