About Dr. Joel Isom
Joel Isom, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician serving patients at CommunityMD in Atlanta and Newnan, Georgia. He is passionate about treating and caring for his patients. Dr. Isom’s journey began with a desire to become a veterinarian. However, as he experienced how disease was affecting his family, he found his passion for improving the health and wellness of people. He graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed his residency and training in the Meharry Internal Medicine Program. Dr. Isom embraces innovation in the practice of internal medicine. He values reaching the health and wellness goals of his patients. He pursues the process of identifying their needs and developing plans for patient wellness. Seeing his patients smile when together they have discovered what treatments have been most effective brings him a sense of satisfaction. Dr. Isom is from Thomson, Georgia, and moved to Atlanta to be closer to his family. He loves spending time with his wife, Dr. Erica Isom, who is also an internist. They enjoy going on vacation with their three children. He also enjoys Fantasy Football and a good laugh with the 90s sitcom Martin.

I have needed a new General Practitioner for the last few years. I usually don’t like going to the doctor, however, Dr. Isom was incredibly personable. Going through all of the usual check up stuff, and Dr. Isom had a plan in place for the things I need to do to get up to date with my health. I also appreciate the clinic seems to have most of the equipment needed for this kinda stuff, and I don’t need to run around town, making appointments at half a dozen places. Definitely a pleasant experience. Not only do I feel confident in my choice for a doctor, but I will tell my friends that have also been looking, about this place and Dr. Isom.

I actually told one of the customer service rep at the front desk that they are so very professional both it was 2 of them and Dr. Isom Communication skills are Excellent He really has your health concerns at heart. I left out feeling like I had made a great decision of my health Facility.

The waiting area had about 15 seats, only 5 ppl were there when I arrived for early morning appt. After an hour, was standing room only. Felt like a hospital emergency room filling up. The long wait & seeing ppl arrive later but get called sooner made everything else afterwards super annoying. Booked the early morning to avoid the back up. They had no explanation for it, so seems they normally way overbook time slots. The blood draw, which I loathe, was the appreciative part. Her demeanor was the most balanced.

I really enjoyed this office visit! First time is always a nervous time for me with new providers you never know what to expect but the entire office staff was amazing! They were welcoming, the office was clean, and the provider Dr Isom was very thorough! It was great to not be rushed through an appointment like previous places have done it makes a huge difference in care! Would give 10 stars if I could!
