About Dr. Jonathan Aker
Dr. Jonathan Aker joined the Aker Kasten team after practicing in Charleston, South Carolina. He brings a wide range of diagnostic and surgical expertise in the treatment of ophthalmic disorders.
Dr. Aker graduated with distinction in the Biomedical Sciences from the College of Charleston. He then received his masters degree from Boston University School of Medicine with a focus in immunologic research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his medical degree at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at FAU and ophthalmology residency at the esteemed Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, South Carolina.
Dr. Aker has been published extensively, receiving numerous research awards. He has also lectured and presented at podiums across the country. In addition, he has spent a significant amount of time serving underprivileged areas, having visited the Philippines, Belize and the Dominican Republic on medical mission trips. He is a member of several societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Florida Society of Ophthalmology and Palm Beach Ophthalmology Society.
Dr. Aker is committed to providing each of his patients with individualized attention to deliver the best possible results. His areas of expertise include Femtosecond Laser assisted cataract surgery, as well as the use of advanced technology premium lens implants. Dr. Aker also has experience in performing minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. These procedures may be standalone or in conjunction with cataract surgery.

It was alright. Technician was great. Doctor was okay but seemed a bit overwhelmed, perhaps overbooked. Wait time to be called back for initial screening was 40 to 50 min. Wait time waiting for doctor after being in exam room was another 50 min. Someone checking in on the patients waiting and giving a reason and estimate for time to be seen goes a long way especially when you are initially told 5 to 10 min and you see the doctor and scribe walking by your room several times without any acknowledgment. Medical equipment and overall clinic is in need of an update. Overall, an almost average experience far from the 5 star rating expected from such highly reviewed and respected clinic.
