About Dr. Joseph Arrieta

Joseph Arrieta, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1995, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Visual Science from Valdosta State College. Following graduation, Dr. Arrieta served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, where he was chief of the basic training in-processing optometry clinic which allowed him to practice full-scope optometry and further sharpen his clinical skills. Dr. Arrieta has been practicing optometry since 1995 and is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. Born and raised in Florida, he says he chose a career in optometry because he was inspired by a hometown eye doctor. For Dr. Arrieta, the most rewarding part of being an optometrist is building strong relationships with his patients so he can better address their visual needs. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Arrieta loves spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and volunteering with Knights of Columbus.

The level of expertise and customer service given by staff is outstanding!!! The staff is extremely nice. And the Dr. is excellent. From the time I arrived until I was seen was minutes, very timely. My only negative point was showing up to pick up glasses. I showed up twice at lunch time because that was my only availability. Then I realized they were closed for lunch. I don’t mind the Dr. Office closed because it is by appointment. However, I feel like someone should be available to pick up glasses at lunch because if you have a job that is when you would have time.

I've been going here for probably a decade. I drive about 45 mins to get to this location as well. I've always been very happy with my experience and have been a loyal client for a long time, bringing my husband and child into the practice with me over the years. This last visit I was caught off guard by an additional $50 charge for both me and my child. A retinal scan or something that was not mentioned until a was paying and was apparently required. $100 more than I was expecting is quite a bit and, if nothing else, I should have at least been informed of it BEFORE the appointment. Things not completely covered by insurance should also be optional and at the VERY LEAST disclosed. Visits for both of us are normally $50 total and this year it was triple that. Next year I'll be asking if this retinal scan is still "required" when making our appointments and if it is I may be shopping around to see another eye doctor that lets us opt out of it. With the exception of not disclosing this n

The on-line pre-check was time consuming with things that, in my opinion, do not need to be there for an eye appointment and then having to do it all over again at the office was a bit disappointing. I feel the pre-check/office check-in could be streamlined a bit better.
I have found the staff at the front desk, time and again, surly if not just plain unwelcoming. The only friendly greeting I received yesterday for instance was from the doctor's tech. Quality customer care seems lost on too many in this office. It's important to remember they wouldn't have jobs without customers/clients; so treat them (us) with interest, care and friendliness.
