Dr. Joseph C. Hollaway has been practicing optometry for 16 years, with 13 of those being here on the Eastern Shore. Originally a native of North Carolina, he received his BS in Biology from East Carolina University, and then went on to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree from IAUPR School of Optometry in 2005. While in school, he completed externship residence training in Low Vision, Vision Therapy and Ocular Disease Treatment and Management. Dr. Hollaway was also active in the Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity, where he traveled to certain impoverished areas, in countries like the Dominican Republic, to provide eye care and treatment to the less fortunate. Since graduation, Dr. Hollaway has also served on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry as a clinician for 3 years, and as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore teaching Ocular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment to students in the Physicians Assistant program. Dr. Hollaway now spends most of his time in his practice where he specializes in comprehensive eye exams, management of ocular disease and contact lens fitting. Dr. Hollaway is board certified through the National Board of Optometry, and the Maryland State Board of Optometry to use therapeutic and diagnostic pharmaceutical agents for the treatment and management of ocular disease.
