Dr. Josh Glatman, MD, FAAO, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with special interest and expertise in disorders of the retina, macula, and vitreous. He earned his Doctor of Medicine and residency in Ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Medical School. He completed his internship in General Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
As a fellowship-trained retina specialist and surgeon, Dr. Glatman has been active as an instructor and lecturer to colleagues, residents, and medical students, as well as in retina private practice. He was honored as the teaching ophthalmology professor of the year at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 2012, an award voted on by residents and staff.
Dr. Glatman specializes in complex retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration. He is an expert in all diseases and surgery of the retina, including retinal vascular diseases, intravitreal injections, diabetic vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, macular hole, and epiretinal membrane surgery. Dr. Glatman employs the newest and most successful diagnostic and treatment modalities in managing these conditions, including spectral-domain optical coherence tomography/angiography (OCT-angiography), fluorescein and ICG angiography, B-scan ultrasound, retina lasers, intravitreal injections, and small-gauge sutureless vitrectomy techniques.
