About Dr. Joshlene Sandhu
I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. I attended York House School and then continued to Simon Fraser University, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Applied Science. I moved to Chicago and attained my Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2002. After graduation, I moved to New York City and completely fell in love with the area. During this time, I practiced at The Eyecare Center of New Jersey and Park Avenue Eye Institute for 14 years in a medical eye care setting. My time on the East Coast was transformative. I married Dr. Harry Boparai (he's an eye doctor, but we try not to talk shop), and we have three children together: Isabella, Aaron, and Ryan. I was also able to meet amazing lifelong friends who have given me more than I could have asked for. Leaving the East Coast was one of the most difficult things I had to do, but I recognized the importance of family and moved back to be closer to mine in 2014.
Bellevue has given me an opportunity to grow as a mother, a physician, and an entrepreneur. Yes, my allergies are crazy here, but I love the stability and calm it has given my family.
I have extensive experience in family eye care, including pediatric eye examinations, contact lens fitting, eye surgery co-management, and adult eye care. However, I always say to my patients, if I can't figure it out, I will guide you in the right direction. I genuinely care about my patients and want only the best for them.
I love reading historical literature, watching TV, eating (yes, I consider it a hobby), listening to loud music (usually dance or Bollywood), and taking naps (which never happens). I believe in making the world a little better with laughter, joy, and perspective. I am so excited to bring Airis Eye to all of you.

Not good in check insurance coverage. They even did not call and check. I have provided my insurance information two days in advance. However, they advise my insurance is acceptable for annual eye exam in the beginning. After I arrived, they said my insurance was not coverage and not sure if I could do medical care cover. That’s is so weird. They tried to get you there and said not sure to everything. I do not know if that is right way to do it.

The Optometrist and staff were personable and compassionate, she went above and beyond to make sure that I understood process of eye exam. The provider also listened to me on issue unrelated to my vision, there should be more healthcare professionals like her and her staff.

Dr. Sandhu was extremely informative, down to earth, and with a genuine excitement to share her knowledge. The entire staff at Airis Eye were very welcoming and ready to help with whatever it was you needed. From the very first time I stepped foot into the office, til the last “do you have any questions” Dr. Sandhu gave me, I was noticed and taken care of thoroughly.
And as if the kindness wasn’t enough, I left the consult feeling very informed about the health of my eyes, and exactly what it is my prescription is helping me with.
My visit to Airis Eye overall has set a new standard of what I will accept from any kind of medical provider; I will definitely be coming back. I’ve already pointed my coworkers to their services because I know they will not be disappointed

We had changed insurance and my prior doctor didn’t accept the new insurance. Dr. Sandhu did, and I was actually very happy to make the switch. Very thorough, completely modern equipment very attentive staff, and no wait whatsoever. ?

I’ve been putting off going to the eye doctor because it’s usually just another sterile appointment that’s very impersonal while also pushing things you don’t need but this was a completely different experience. Everyone in the office was so kind and conversational and made me feel super comfortable! The office was beautifully designed (by the dr. Herself) and they were very upfront about costs and what would be best for my situation. They literally went the extra mile and I would recommend anyone to go here!

The best ophthalmologist I've been to so far. I have diabetes and had toxoplasmosis. The doctor carefully and patiently explained my results, what caused the spots at the bottom of my eye and how they may relate to my illnesses. I felt well taken care of.

One of the best experiences I have had going to a doctor's office. The staff was incredibly warm and inviting and Dr. Joshlene was happy to answer any questions I had. I appreciated the care and them checking to make sure that my eyes weren't over corrected and spending the time to find the most comfortable fit for me. I didn't feel rushed out of there at all and was impressed with the service I got.
