Dr. Somohano completed her Ophthalmology Residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell in New York City followed by a Cornea and External Disease Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. During her residency, Dr. Somohano’s commitment to excellence and her contributions to clinical research were acknowledged with the Resident Research Day Award. Throughout her medical career, Dr. Somohano has been actively engaged in cutting-edge research, contributing to the advancement of ophthalmology. Her work has been published in esteemed journals such as International Ophthalmology Clinics, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, and the Journal of Glaucoma, among others. Dr. Somohano’s research has explored topics ranging from corneal collagen crosslinking protocols to the impact of glaucoma therapy on the ocular surface microbiome. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Dr. Somohano is fluent in Spanish.
