About Dr. Katherine Yau
As the practice owner of New York Vision Associates, Dr. Katherine Yau is personally invested in every aspect of patient care, ensuring each person receives compassionate, individualized attention.
Dr. Yau received her undergraduate degree from Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York, where she majored in Biology and minored in Asian and Asian American Studies. She was the recipient of the Mark S. Newman Scholarship, a full ride to Binghamton University. She earned her Doctorate from The SUNY College of Optometry in New York, where she had extensive training in the diagnosis and management of ocular pathology including glaucoma, cataracts, corneal and retinal disease, as well as the fitting of soft and rigid gas permeable contact lenses. Dr. Yau gained additional clinical expertise in ocular disease at Woodhull Medical Center and the East New York Diagnostic and Treatment Center, both in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Yau is fluent in Mandarin and conversational in Spanish. She is dedicated to providing compassionate comprehensive care of patients' ocular and visual needs using state-of-the-art technology.

Dr. Katherine Yau was incredible. For the past 10 years I have been struggling to find the right prescription. After a while the local Dr. I had been seeing started to feel like they stopped having the patience to deal with my changing eyesight. Dr. Yau listened, did not try to "sell" me on anything. In fact this team is very transparent with pricing and out of pocket costs. I will definitely be working with them again!

Absolutely the BEST eye doctor experience I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, the entire staff was warm and welcoming. The office is beautiful, organized, and runs right on time, which I really appreciated.
The exam with Dr. Katherine Yau was the most thorough and high-tech eye exam I’ve ever received. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and never made me feel rushed. Dr. Katherine Yau genuinely cares about her patients and truly goes above and beyond.

Probably the best and most efficient experience for getting new contacts. I was about to run out of my contacts and booked last minute. The doctor was thorough but also super nice and got exactly what I came for completed. Gave me some extra lenses so I had them in the meantime. The level of efficiency is what I am most impressed with.

For many years, I have been bothered by recurring stye eye and no any doctor told me why and how to treat it for good until I see Dr. Yau. She found out I actually have another kind of eyelid inflammation caused by mites which can be treated effectively by a new eye drop approved by FDA recent years. Suddenly I see hope to treat my recurring eye issue and I’m so grateful. She is so experienced, patient and responsible doctor. I truly highly recommend her.

I was a bit reluctant with working with a new eye doctor. I had been with Dr. Lewy for many years . When I heard he had retired and Dr Yau had taken over, I was not that jazzed about it. But when I had called the office on a Saturday in January, and Dr Yau picked up the phone, I knew she was a cut above. Helping me through a stressful experience was greatly appreciated. A simple check-up and choosing a new pair of glasses was a fun experience.
