Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Kaufman attended Wichita State for one year before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin. She pursued her medical education at the University Of Houston College Of Optometry, graduating magna cum laude. Before beginning her career, she completed extensive internships at Sharp Eye Consultants in San Antonio, Lakeline Vision in Austin, and the University Eye Institute in Houston.

Great optometrist but failed to disclose price transparency on doing pictures in lieu of dilation. I asked the optometrist which was better and she had indicated that taking pictures of my eye was better than doing the dilation. At no point did the optometrist nor the assistant mention that it was not going to be covered by my co-pay. It was only when I was checking out at the end -- after the sales associate/receptionist tried to sell me on getting new frames without fully explaining to me all of my options for getting new lenses for my glasses -- that this person finally told me that the pictures were an additional charge that was more than 5x my copay. We then had an awkward exchange in which this person told me that the dilation was actually covered by my co-pay and would have been free for my visit. Be sure to ask plenty of questions before agreeing to ANYTHING that they offer.

I had a fantastic experience at both of my appointments. Everyone is friendly, professional, and supportive. I especially appreciated all staff taking the time to listen to my concerns and answer all my questions. I very highly recommend Katie Kaufman at her Westlake practice.

My only wish is this location offered a selection of luxury frames. Current selection is limited to Salt and others I’m not familiar with. Tom Ford, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Dior would be appreciated.

Every person I interacted with was trying to upsell me from the moment I walked in to checking out. The provider also seemed to be rushing through my appointment and was trying to get me to buy additional services without telling me there was a cost to them. Very shady place I would not recommend going here.

Finally was able to have a thorough eye exam and get a prescription that works well for me. Dr. Kauffman was meticulous in her approach to the exam and was so easy to talk with.
