About Dr. Kayla Hawkins
Undergraduate Education: Howard University, BS; Optometry School: Salus University- Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Professional Achievements and Associations: Graduated with Honors- Cum Laude, Member of American Optometric Association; Member of Pennsylvania Optometric Association, Member of National Optometric Association. My favorite part of being an optometrist: I love educating my patients on proper eye care in order to live their best lives and see the world clearly. I look forward to seeing my patient's year after year and creating a trusting relationship with them and their families. In my spare time, I enjoy: trying new restaurants, taking trips around the world, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Very nice and friendly staff! Everything went smoothly. If you would prefer to have your pupil's dilated instead of the retinol scan, be sure to let them know, since this was added by default to my appointment.

Dr. Hawkins was wonderful! Answered my questions and explained everything thoroughly. I have a little fear around my eyes being touched and everyone was sensitive to that during my exam. Staff was all professional, friendly and helpful!

This was a great experience. The office environment was pleasant. The staff was approachable. The Dr. was very informative. This was my first time with this eye Dr. and I learned more about my eyes than I learned with my eye Dr. of at least 10 years.

The provider was outstanding. She has a great bedside manner, and she was very informative. I would definitely book her again.
The staff, however, was not great. Initially, they told me that they didn't accept my insurance and blamed me for not answering the phone (I didn't see a missed call). In actuality, they just didn't know how to look up my insurance policy. They also claimed to have no affiliation with ZocDoc but that is how I booked the appointment so that didn't make any sense. It was so bad that I wanted to walk out but the doctor was worth it.

The office staff was very nice and welcoming.
The optometrist explained my eye exam precisely. She answered questions directly and thoroughly. Afterwards I was sent to the eyeglass consultant where Dr. Hawkins explained to them that I was a first-time eyeglass wearer, which was hard for me to accept. However, they understood and took their time showing me certain styles of eyeglasses and took their time while I tried on several pairs of glasses.

From the moment I entered, the staff was friendly polite. I was able to complete most of the check-in information online in advance to save time. The office has a lot of high tech equipment, and everything is situated efficiently. The tech who got me started was friendly and explained everything well since it was my first experience. The doctor was well informed, patiently explained everything and provided useful recommendations for my everyday life.

I found Doctor Hawkins, very professional informative, and clearly. Enthusiastic about her work. She communicated what was going on with me, Very clearly the staff actually made arrangements where I would be able to use my insurance for my glasses after my surgery.
