About Dr. Kayla Smith
Kayla Smith, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 2019. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-Optometry at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where she was a varsity member of the Ferris State University cross-country and track team.
Dr. Smith completed a one-year post-doctorate residency at The Optometry Center for Vision Therapy in Austin, Texas. She specialized in developmental optometry, pediatrics, traumatic brain injury, and vision therapy and rehabilitation. In addition, she worked one-on-one with patients on their vision therapy programs.
Dr. Smith is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), the American Optometric Association (AOA), and the American Academy of Optometry (AAO).
When she is not treating patients, Dr. Smith loves reading, running, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

The doctor was amazing. If she left Suburban Eye Care, I would definitely follow her. My dissatisfaction comes from dealing with the lab that they outsource my prescription lens to. They broke my Fendi frames and Suburban Eye Care only offered $200 towards the replacement.
To be clear, Dr. Kayla was GREAT unfortunately once she handed me off to the Optician things went down hill.

Very young and upbeat staff! Very professional and friendly! Dr. Smith searched high and low for a contact lens company that made my prescription as it was so low that a lot of companies didn’t make them but she didn’t stop looking and she found a company for me!! Very thankful!
