About Dr. Keith Early
Dr. Keith Earley, Jr. is a board-certified ophthalmologist who obtained his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed his ophthalmology residency in the Air Force at Wilford Hall and Brooke Army Medical Center (SAUSHEC).
Dr. Earley was born in Wichita Falls, TX at Sheppard Air Force Base, the son of a fighter pilot and ICU nurse. Prior to becoming an ophthalmologist, he served as a Flight Surgeon for six years for AWACS and F-16 squadrons, including two deployments in the Middle East and multiple NATO taskings. Before joining San Antonio Eye Center, he served as the Chief of Ophthalmology at Keesler Medical Center in Mississippi. Throughout his 13-year military career, Dr. Earley consistently received excellent patient satisfaction scores, earning the top rating of all military specialty care providers in Spring 2020. His calm, courteous demeanor is reassuring to his patients both in the clinic and the operating room.
Dr. Earley derives deep professional satisfaction from helping his patients fully understand their eye conditions and treatments, as well as hearing from his patients how much cataract surgery has improved their vision and overall quality-of-life. He is married to a fellow Texan, the illustrator of the Hank the Cowdog children’s book series, and they have one child. He enjoys the outdoors, travel, exercise, and all things culinary.

I never saw the doctor.
I showed up 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment in order to take care of any additional paperwork. (I completed an online registration the night before) (apointment time was 1:10pm).
After my srrival I was asked to fill out the same paperwork that I had the night before.
At 1:40, I had not been spoken to so I told them I was leaving. I understand "running behind" but no one bothered to keep me informed. I took that as a total disrespect for my time.
Based on the reaction of the receptionist or lack there of, my guess is the doctor was not told the reason for my no show.
Dr Early may be an outstanding doctor, I don't know. But the front desk has a long way to go.

Long wait. 2 hours past appointment time. Desk clerk was not organized. She kept calling me to the desk to get one bit of information at a time. Desk clerk also didn’t want to call to verify my insurance. She said she would get to it by the end of the day. So I paid self pay at this visit.

I went to San Antonio Eyes for cataract surgery evaluation. I had been to another clinic previously but felt like a piece of meat with a wallet. San Antonio Eyes staff made me feel valued and any problem I might have they would partner with me to correct. The doctor himself was genuine and candid about the status of my eyes. His demeanor radiated confidence and calm. I felt his objective was my well being, meaning he provided all the information I needed to make an educated decision regarding my eye sight.

Dr. Early's office is friendly and effeciently run. Super-convenient location for me being less than a mile from my house! (There are also at least 2 other locations within ~5 miles of my house) The technical staff is friendly and well-trained. Dr. Early is friendly, polite, professional and knowledgeable. He performed a thorough eye exam and informed me of any concerns he had as well as his recommendations for any future, follow-up eye care. He is on- time and efficient, yet not hurried or rushed and he spent as much time as I needed to have my questions answered. I would recommend him to my family and/or friends.

We were impressed with Dr Earley.
He Clearly explained all of the options to deal with my son's issue. He scheduled our minor surgery for the next day and the procedure was done in less than 10 minutes. Would recommend him to anybody that needs to see an ophthalmologist.

The staff was friendly and most seemed competent in their jobs. Due to the apparent heavy patient load, the wait times between participating in the various procedures were a little excessive and there were no televisions, music, etc. to distract from the boredom of waiting. Also, one of the waiting areas was too small and cramped. Once I was able to see the ophthalmologist, he seemed to be a little rushed, although he did well in his consultation and exam despite the rush.

The doctor did a thorough examination of my eyes. He was very informative and listener of my complaints. He stated that it was very important for me to follow up right away due to an unexpected diagnosis. He immediately figured out a plan for me to get the complete tests and evaluations needed before a final diagnosis and possible treatments. It will required several visits. I am very happy that I was able to find a doctor with such attention to details and knowledge. I recommend Dr Earley Keith to everyone looking for an Opthalmologyst and Eye Doctor.
