Born in Colorado and raised in Boulder, Dr. Hesterberg graduated from the University of Colorado - Boulder with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and Psychology. She earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Hesterberg completed both an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine with National Jewish Health/Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado after which she completed a General Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis. Dr. Hesterberg’s love of science began when she was a kid. At the University of Colorado, she worked in various research labs before deciding that her love of working with people and being a caregiver would make going into medicine a good fit. “Caring for patients with cardiovascular disease means I get to have a long-term relationship with my patients. Every day work is different. I get to spend time in both the hospital and the clinic, as well as looking at imaging studies and doing procedures. We are making great strides in cardiovascular care and there are always new innovations to improve patient care.” When not at work, Dr. Hesterberg enjoys gardening, hiking, camping and snowshoeing.

Dr. Hesterberg was so kind and really put my anxiety at ease with all of her knowledge and compassion. I feel like she really listened, and gave me time to talk through all my concerns as well as explain everything to me. It didn’t feel like an extremely time constrained appointment, which is something I’ve felt in other doctors offices. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a cardiologist. The staff were also very kind and helpful, and the office building was probably the nicest medical building I’ve ever been inside!

Overall definitely recommend. Dr. Kirstin was very friendly, easy to talk to, and a clear communicator. The office staff was friendly, even cheerful, and checked me in for my appointment without issue. I also got a call 2 days prior to my appointment so that they might connect with my PCP & have some of my information already on file to reference during my appointment. Great experience overall!
