“My daughter was on the road to loosing her eye sight from having severe light sensitivity in her eyes that made it really hard for her on a daily basis. Very badly strained. She hated taking pictures or looking up at anything or anyone. Always looking down and looking sad. Glasses alone Did Not help. Never knew what caused this or found a doctor that can actually give me an explanation or most importantly a Solution for my poor baby to get her sight back, until I met her. She is hands down best eye doctor I’ve ever met. So attentive and informative of exactly what wrong. We saw her in August for the first time and today, almost 5 months later my daughter is a whole new person I could cry!! She can see! She looks up when people talk to her or takes her picture! She changed her life in ways I can never thank her for. ”

“The provider was straight forward. Our biggest concern was the unexpected wait time. We were there for 2 hours. It could have been an off day but we if we were made aware of how long appointments typically take I think we'd feel like our time was respected. That's the only thing. No one was rude to us.”

About Dr. Lingkun Kong
Dr. Lingkun Kong obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and medical degree at Harbin Medical University, a top medical school in China, in 1988. After medical school, she completed a master's degree in medical science, focusing on inflammatory eye diseases, and a residency in ophthalmology at Harbin Medical University. To advance her career in pediatric eye diseases, especially retinopathy of prematurity, Dr. Kong moved to Australia. She earned a Ph.D. in 2000 from the University of Queensland with a thesis titled ?The expression of the VEGF gene in a mouse model of oxygen-induced retinopathy.? She also completed a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at Methodist Hospital.
In 2000, Dr. Kong moved to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston to continue her career. She repeated residency training at Texas Tech University at El Paso to meet American board requirements and completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Kong has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and contributed 2 book chapters. She has presented more than 100 times at national and international conferences and has been invited to lecture numerous times. She holds two patents aimed at preventing premature infant delivery.
She is a member of professional societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Kong is a principal investigator in the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group and has served on steering, planning, and writing committees for several clinical trials. Her clinical trial at Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, on treating retinopathy of prematurity with intravitreal bevacizumab has laid the foundation for several nationwide ROP treatment trials.
