During her over 30 years of practicing eye care in Alabama, she has been involved in organized optometry on the local, state and national level. Serving as the first female optometrist in the state to be elected to the Alabama Board of Optometry, Dr. Hammonds has also served as President of the Birmingham Area Optometric Society, President of the Alabama Optometric Association, President of the UAB School of Optometry Alumni Association and President of SECO International, a not-for-profit association acknowledged as the largest optometric education provider in the country. Dr. Hammonds is married and enjoys travel, swimming and family time. She currently provides full-scope optometry at EyeCare Associates in Hoover, AL, where Dr. Hammonds is accepting new patients at this time.
