I've Dr. Banez patient for almost 3 years. She is the best opthamologist I have ever had in my entire life. She is very thorough in her examination and spends great amount of time and effort to make sure your eyes are examined from every aspect.

I did not have to wait to see Dr. Banez; she was punctual and on time for my appointment. She performed a thorough exam and answered all my questions. Her office verified acceptance of my insurance in advance so there wereno misunderstandings. My prescription was called in to the correct pharmacy and was ready for me shortly thereafter. All in all, a very efficient and pleasant experience.

This was actually one of the best health care experiences I’ve had in San Francisco. I got in right at my appointment time, and dr. Banez spent probably 30-45 minutes with me directly answering my questions and discussing treatment. She wasvery nice, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the appointment seem easy. Highly recommend!

Mary Ann doctor herself was very rushed and didn't even ask for my symptoms. She basically came in asking whether I was there for eye strain and had not worn glasses before. I had to insist to let her know mysymptoms. She did not even tell me whether I need to wear glasses when reading or all the time or even what the prescription meant. I had to call back and ask when to wear them. Her assistant was very nice and informative. Appointment started on time and they offered sun glasses as my eyes were dilated when I left.

Doctor Banez was really helpful and informative! I came in to get a second opinion for my eye condition, and she made me feel much better by digging into my eye usage behavior and try to figure out what might be the cause. Highly recommend!

It was my first visit to Dr. Banez - on time, straightforward, answered my questions, gave some good unsolicited tips on buying glasses online and both her assistant and Dr. Banez were nice and pleasant. Her assistant couldn't get a consistentread on my prescription using a machine so Dr. Banez came in instead to do it herself manually. The office is not fancy and equipment isn't sparkling new - that doesn't matter to me but a consideration if it does to you.

This was one of my best encounters with a physician ever. The office was efficiently run with a quick check-in process and no delay with seeing Dr. Banez. Dr. Banez proceeded to explain each test she was about to perform, performedthem and then immediately shared her observations. She then patiently and thoroughly answered my questions about the implications and recommended course of treatment. This all seems simple and unremarkable but I rarely find doctors willing to take the time to show such compassion and respect. Further, the few doctors who willing to fully engage with patients usually can't balance it with maintaining a punctual appointment schedule and it causes delays and long wait times. Dr. Banez and her office having figured it all out.

My visit was quite pleasant, however, the doctor seemed agitated by my questions, which made me feel uneasy. The screen display for the characters kept shaking due to the poor build of the office. So every time a door was openedor shut it was hard to focus. The doctor was kind enough to invite me back for a follow up, which will be included in the initial visit ($).

Mary is very nice as is her receptionist and assistant, however I did feel the evaluation was quick and am not sure I was convinced it was super thorough but I was also freaking out so maybe all was well andI just wanted more because I did not feel well.

I went in for a routine eye exam. My eye happened to be red from a subconjunctival hemorrhage, which is no big deal, but Dr. Banez fixated on the issue and asked me about it. When I responded to her questions,Dr. Banez told me that we're not supposed to talking about this because it was a medical issue and would not be covered by my insurance. She was very reluctant to talk to me after that. The nurse had already told me I'd have to pay for an additional medical bill out of pocket (on top of the eye exam) if I wanted to discuss the issue, and I said I just wanted a regular exam. It felt like Dr. Banez was trying to make me feel bad - in her perspective I should be paying more, but I didn't really have a medical problem and just wanted a check up. I would not recommend this practice; it feels like they care more about making profits than helping people. The nurse even said "doctors gotta get paid!" In the past, I've always been able to ask ophthalmologists any questions during my exam, and insurance was not a concern. Lastly, they dilated my eyes and then forgot to give me sunglasses or any type of eye protection. I was ushered out so quickly into the blinding sunlight in the middle of the afternoon. I couldn't even cross the street! This is not an experience I would wish for anyone else.

Dr. Bañez is a calm and friendly expert who has, over a couple of years, helped with an eye issue (3x same thing). She has also given me a lot of knowledge as to what I can do to prevent anotherepisode when it became apparent that the frequency of this same infection was atypical. Additionally, I've never felt rushed at her office and have always appreciated her commitment to being thorough. I'll never see anyone else as long as we're living in the same city and she's available~

I had an eye sty and was initially worried about it as I feared an eye infection. Mary was able to diagnose it quickly and provide very understanding assurances that it was just a sty and could be treated with some antibiotics. I highly recommend her.

The core of the exam at Dr. Banez office lasts 1-2 min. It was by far the most superficial exam I have ever had. I'm quite shocked that such doctors are even allowed to practice medicine. Total waste of time and money.

Mary Ann was very knowledgable and offered a new treatment from other doctors I'm seeing that I'm hopeful will work. She was very polite and thorough. Her assistant, however, made me a little nervous. She didn't really seem confident in whatshe was doing when putting eye drops in or preparing me for my appointment.

I thought Dr. Banez was totally fine, however did not care for her assistant. She started writing me a prescription for eyeglasses after verifying that I have 20/20 vision. Made me feel like they get paid on script writing, regardless of whether or not it's warranted.
