About Dr. Matthew Skrdla
Matthew Skrdla, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2000 and completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Nebraska.
Dr. Skrdla has been practicing optometry since 2000, and received specialized training in the fields of contact lenses, sports vision and visual performance, as well as eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, and other illnesses that affect the eye.
His own experience with an eye injury when he was in middle school influenced him to choose a career in optometry. As an optometrist, Dr. Skrdla believes he has the ability to enrich the lives of his patients through personal and innovative eye care.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Skrdla enjoys staying active through cycling.

Very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient staff from the moment I walked in until the moment I left. Everyone was very thorough in their job. The doctor listened to my concerns and addressed everything I asked about. The woman that helped me pick out glasses, I think her name was Kelly, was super helpful and patient. I highly recommend this office!

I really have enjoyed the customer service all the way around. Brenda was so helpful in finding my glasses and ensuring they were perfect while giving excellent client care. Theresa was kind and patient with me as I searched for my medical info, and was incredibly helpful when I needed to communicate with the doctor about my prescription. Both the doctor and the tech during my exam took wonderful care of me and made me feel like an individual, not just another patient to pay the bills. I will definitely be back!

Dr. Matt always takes the time to answer questions or just visit a little. To an older person, like me, taking some personal time to visit with a patient makes a 180 mile round trip worth every mile. I don’t like conveyor belt apts. I never get that feeling from SPEX.

The timeliness of being seen by Dr. Skrdla in an expedient manner without the long wait often encountered with other opticians and/or eye specialists. Additionally, Dr. Skrdla takes the time to personally answer questions, demonstrate visually how the eye functions and explain a patient's specific condition to an extent not typically experienced elsewhere.

I love that Doctor Skerdla explained the reason behind why I’ve needed corrective vision! It’s so nice to have a Doctor who takes time to explain why we do what we do in the eye care realm. The staff is super friendly, thorough, and was ready to field any of my questions. I also LOVED not having my eyes dilated and got to use the optos machine for no extra cost. Thanks, team!

Dr. Skrdla has always given me spot on diagnosis and genuine concern for my eye health. It's a pleasure to interact with him. No change required. Your grammar needs some fine tuning. 2nd sentence above: "...we could be doing different..."; should be differently, it's an adverb.

Fantastic experience, no pressure at all to buy glasses. Only thing that could improve (which I'm sure you're aware) is signage outside- was a bit confusing at first to see where exactly the office was.

I’ve watched the office grow through the years and I can tell you have paid attention to your operation and have made improvements as you have developed and matured. The newer use of the eye glass specialist is great- they know what they are doing and are very helpful and friendly. One improvement ? Geez that really isn’t anything I can add to. Keep up what your doing and keep the motivation- it shows!

I've been seeing Dr. Skrdla and his staff for several years. I really like Dr. Skrdla and I'm happy with the service provided by him and his staff. However, I was very disappointed to discover during my last visit that I was limited to the Oakley frames they had in the office. In the past, Spex was able to order whatever Oakley frames I wanted. This year I purchased frames and lens elsewhere and spent about $1000. I don't like having to go one place for my eye exam and shop around elsewhere for frames.

The front desk staff, and the staff that helped me look for a pair of glasses, were SO awesome. Everyone was so personable and kind, and made me feel really welcome in their space. I think everyone there is excellent, staff and Dr. Skrdla make it fun to go in and have your eyes checked. Everyone is extremely friendly and all do their jobs very well. I am grateful to have them as providers for my eye care.

Person who came to the door as I was finishing the visit with Dr S.,, rudely stood there as if to rush the doctor to wrap it up. He was not pleasant, just matter of fact. At his desk it took far to long as I saw it to enter data & get me checked out.

I have never had a bad visit since I started everyone always is pleasant. To improve maybe do updates on those who canceled and haven't scheduled a new appointment after a month.

I have enjoyed Dr Skrlda for years but the staff is not to his caliber. The kiosk thing takes all the personal touch away. I was hopeful to look at new glasses, but felt rushed and hurried to pay my co-pay and leave. Most occasions shopping for glasses is fun.

When you sit down to talk "eyeglasses" you get the same feeling that you get when you're trying to buy a car. You're overpaying, your talked into things you don't want or need and I don't trust that I can get what works for me. When I share that my new prescription seems a bit odd, I'm told that the glasses are correct and that I just need to get used to them. I certainly don't feel as though I'll get any changes made based on my needs. Dr. is fantastic, just don't like the eye glass support - feels a bit slimy... although everyone has always been polite.
