About Dr. Maykel Desir
He graduated from The Ohio State University with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Musicology. He completed his medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
After graduating medical school, Dr. Desir completed a residency at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL where he served as Chief Resident. During his education he gained valuable experience working as a Team Physician with the University of Miami Athletics covering collegiate sporting events, the Miami Sailing World Cup Regatta, various local high schools sporting events, and treating complex musculoskeletal injuries.
Following residency, Dr. Desir completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine with Atrium Health and OrthoCarolina. During this training he additionally covered many sporting events, working with several high schools, colleges, and professional athletes. He was the Event Physician for The Charlotte Marathon, Charlotte Golden Gloves boxing tournament, Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament, and CIAA Basketball Tournament.
Since completing his training, Dr. Desir has participated in continuing medical education and remains current with most contemporary and advanced treatments and procedures in sports medicine. He has done extensive training in ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections and applies this to traditional as well as the most contemporary regenerative musculoskeletal treatments.

The reception staff was really helpful, kind, and ready for all who entered.
The X-ray tech was fast and efficient.
The greeting nurse was short and lacked interpersonal skills and professionalism. Perhaps she was having a bad day.
Dr. Desir was great! He seemed empathetic and thorough. He listened more than most of the healthcare providers I have seen for this problem. He offered options and clear descriptions of each option and a course of treatment starting with the appropriate testing.
I have been struggling with this problem for over a year and it has been misdiagnosed by several different healthcare professionals. Dr. Desir realized my struggle and looked deeper. Finally!! I found a logical next step out of my pain. Grateful for this Dr.

This establishment/facility is highly recommended. My child has been to many Doc's for sprained, fractured and ligament issues being a basketball player and this facility, Dr. Desir and every person we came in contact with was amazingly kind, helpful and professional. My dad is older and cannot get around as easily as he used to. After several bad experiences at other doctors, my dad gave up on getting treatment for his knees that are causing him great pain. I saw the Iortho office while driving - it looked clean and modern and I convinced my dad to give it a try. Most things are not perfect... but this was PERFECT. Dr. Desir was prompt, well spoken, succinct, informative, patient and determined to get my dad help. I cannot thank you enough.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Desir. He has been my Orthopod for a while now and he has treated me with courtesy and respect. He is very professional, listens intently, and comes up with a solution to meet my needs.
The staff are friendly and makes you feel at home. The office is extremely clean and has a really good coffee machine =). The best part is the office contains most of the diagnostic scanners you typically find in a hospital. They even have an open MRI machine. The parking lot is pretty small but there is parking on the street. I am very happy with Dr. Desir and I bet you will be too!

So many people in waiting area. Longer wait time than i am used to. Staff was friendly but extremely busy—the Doctor was kind, listened, explained, answered questions.
The layout of the rooms is futuristic. I wish it had a warmer vibe. And i do not care for so many people waiting around—and no masks were required, which i definitely don’t like—it is unsafe. I felt like i was in an assembly line. I will return and see how my care unfolds. It is close by and I liked the Doctor I saw.
