About Dr. Megan Mccrory Turner

Megan Turner, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2024. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Spanish, from The University of Alabama in 2020. During optometry school, Dr. Turner was actively involved in student leadership and service. She held several leadership positions, including president of the Student Ambassadors and Faculty-Student Mentor Club, and served as treasurer and vice president of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. She was also a member of NOSA, SVOSH, and earned her student fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Dean’s Award of Excellence. Dr. Turner completed a residency in Primary Care Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she gained additional training in primary eye care, pediatrics, ocular disease, vision therapy, and exams for patients with special needs. She also provided care through the See to Succeed program, which delivers eye exams and glasses to children in the Houston area. Originally from Daphne, Alabama, Dr. Turner was inspired to pursue optometry after a medical service trip to Peru. She values building relationships with her patients and enjoys helping improve their vision and overall quality of life. Outside the clinic, Dr. Turner enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, playing pickleball, going to the beach, and exploring Houston.

Doctor provided medical treatment and didn’t tell me until after the visit. Billied my insurance and found out they didn’t accept my medical insurance. I had to pay out of pocket expenses for eye drops. Would have been nice to know my medical insurance wasn’t accepted before pivoting away from my vision insurance.
