About Dr. Melanie Patterson

Melanie Mae Patterson, O.D., earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Pikeville and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She spent several years working at River Valley Eye Clinic and Camden Eye Care Associates, where she developed a deep love for eye care before moving to Pikeville, KY. While at the University of Pikeville, she served as President of the Cornea & Contact Lens Society and was selected by her peers to present a research poster at the Global Specialty Lens Symposium in Las Vegas. Dr. Patterson is passionate about rural eye care, with a special interest in treating ocular surface diseases and specialty contact lens fitting. When she’s not treating patients, Dr. Patterson enjoys exploring the outdoors and traveling.

I enjoyed my appointment with Dr. Patterson. She was very thorough and patient. The receptionists were very friendly. Miss Kay and Miss Mary were kind and patient while being very helpful picking out my frames.
