About Dr. Melanie Rivera
Dr. Melanie Rivera completed her undergraduate training at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota where she majored in psychology and minored in Chinese studies and anthropology.
She decided to enter the medical field after college in order to further her devotion to providing comprehensive healthcare and incorporating the mind-body connection into practice. Following the completion of her post-baccalaureate premedical education at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, she moved to Long Island, New York for medical school. She finished a four year OB/GYN residency program in Kalamazoo, Michigan where she developed expertise in both routine and complex obstetric and gynecologic care.
Dr. Riviera is committed to providing comprehensive, equitable, evidence- based care across all stages of women’s health. She feels privileged to care for women and hopes that each woman leaves her office feeling seen, empowered, and more knowledgeable. She has special interests in trauma-informed care, perinatal anxiety and mood disorders, and family planning. Outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring the wonderful city of Chicago with her husband, artistic projects, and spending time with her two cats.

Melanie was incredibly kind and welcoming throughout the entire appointment. She communicated everything clearly, made sure I felt comfortable, and ensured I fully understood before moving forward. She took the time to answer all of my questions and made the experience very reassuring and pleasant.
The nurse assisting was also very kind and welcoming.
