About Dr. Melissa Carr
Dr. Melissa Carr graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.
After graduating, Dr. Carr practiced for many years in New York City. Recently, she returned to her native Long Island to provide eye care.
She offers comprehensive care for patients of all ages. In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, Dr. Carr emphasizes the overall health of her patients. Dr. Carr is fantastic! She always takes the time to listen and is extremely thorough with her exams. She does a fantastic job with my prescriptions. After I had eye surgery, she did an incredible job with my prescription change and getting me fitted with the right contacts. Cannot speak more highly about her!

Fastest pair of glasses I've ever gotten, and I've gone through more than a few. They make the glasses for you right there on the spot and that was new for me, appreciate that. Dr. Carr is great, so great she wanted to do a extra procedure to check my eyes, which could tell me more about my overall health. Unfortunately I had to go to work, but it was nice to know that she was trying to go the extra mile. And the gentlemen who helped me pick out my glasses, he's the real MVP! Overall it was great and I will return

Dr. Carr was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She made me feel very comfortable and explained things in a manner that I could understand. Her location is inside of Macy's on the 9th floor; that could have been more advertised. The checkin/checkout process could have been a little more private; it was essentially at a vision center counter. All in all, I really liked the doctor so I will go back to her.

Dr. Carr was great. I enjoyed that part of my visit. She was very easy to work with, and made me feel comfortable and very informed.
The rest of the process has been slightly complicated. My booking via Zocdoc was "no longer available" and had to be rescheduled. My wife had the same problem. They clearly don't keep their Zocdoc availability up to date. Additionally, even though I filled out all of their preliminary medical questions online via ZocDoc, they had none of that information and asked me to fill it all out again, by hand, when I arrived.
These aren't show stoppers, of course. But there are plenty of places that do these administrative processes well. I would only recommend Dr. Carr with the qualification that you should expect these sorts of issues.

Super thorough annual exam. I haven't had an eye exam in years. Went here for the convenient location close to my work and glad I did. Dr Carr ran lots of tests, got to the route of my reasons for the visit and hooked me up with the right script. Great doctor.

While there was a bit of confusion with person who checked me in as to whether I was there for an eye exam or a medical problem, the entire process was easy and well done. Dr. Carr was great, very thorough, did not rush through the examination, and made me feel comfortable throughout.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and Melissa was extremely professional and knowledgeable, and figured out why my eyes were irritated after trying a few different things. Overall, great experience.

Dr. Carr was great! Really personable and trustworthy. Really liked her and the way she handled the appointment. Although, the woman checking people in was SO RUDE. Granted, she's not a receptionist, but rather works for the sunglasses hut that Dr Carr is hidden in, but still very rude.
