About Dr. Michael Cooper

Dr. Cooper grew up in Escondido and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Northern Arizona University and the Southern California College of Optometry where he was one of 20 to graduate “with distinction”. His interest in Optometry began with his father-in-law, Ken Manell, who he was fortunate enough to work with and learn from for 15 years. Dr. Manell, another SCCO graduate, instilled in him how to really get to know your patients and their individual vision needs. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Cooper enjoys working with complicated contact lenses patients with keratoconus and other corneal conditions to improve their vision. He also works with young patients and helping to slow down their worsening myopia through Corneal Refractive Therapy utilizing overnight contact lenses. Dr. Cooper loves seeing all ages of patients from infants to seniors and takes the time to understand the unique visual requirements of each of his patients. Dr. Cooper has owned his own practice in Escondido for 23 years and recently decided to join the Eyelux team in 4S Ranch. He and his wife Kris live in Escondido and have two children, Paige and Trenton. Dr. Cooper is an active member and a past-president of the Escondido After-5 Rotary Club. He is also a member of North Coast Church in Escondido. In his spare time he enjoys time with his family, playing golf, skiing and boating.
