Dr. Manning takes an active role in advancing the field of ophthalmology and has been a pioneer in bringing new vision correction techniques to the great Tampa Bay area including numerous corrective lens implants used with cataract surgery as well as advanced vision correction procedures such as SMILE laser vision correction (also referred to as LALEX, Laser Assisted Lenticule Extraction), Refractive Lens Exchange, and ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens). After graduating from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando as valedictorian, Dr. Manning majored in chemistry in the Honors Degree Program at Rollins College. He then received his medical degree at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and completed an internship year there in internal medicine. He performed an ophthalmology residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where he earned the position of chief resident.
