She remained true to her Midwest roots in college, earning her undergraduate degree and meeting her now-husband Kris at Illinois College in west-central Illinois. Afterward, she earned her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri. While in school, she landed a job working part-time for an optometrist and fell in love with the profession. “I knew I wanted to be a doctor. Science and helping people have always been my passions.”
