About Dr. Neil Dunleavy
Neil C. Dunleavy, M.D., a Westchester native, specializes in orthopaedic sports medicine. While at the University of Chicago, Dr. Dunleavy assisted and trained under the team physicians for the NFL Chicago Bears. He also served as a team physician for the MLS Chicago Fire soccer team, University of Chicago sports teams, and several high school football teams.
Dr. Dunleavy prefers a conservative approach to treating his patients. "When possible, I encourage my patients to explore nonsurgical treatment methods prior to considering surgery, and in most cases nonoperative measures are successful. However, if pain persists, I provide the latest minimally-invasive techniques available, and I strive to create a compassionate setting for your recovery."
In his spare time, Dr. Dunleavy is an avid sports fan, and enjoys baseball, golf and tennis. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

Once i got in a room and gave my reason for my visit i was sent for x-rays, got back to the room and i waited over 45 minutes for my first talk with the doctor... they were VERY BUSY... x-rays took less than 5 mins...

Dr. Dunleavy was awesome. I came in due to some pain in my rear delt (shoulder).
He put me through some range-of-motion tests to figure out exactly which part of the shoulder the pain was coming from. He gave me what I needed to recover and also set up a future game plan for physical therapy to improve my workouts and aches overall.
I weigh train 6-7 days a week so having a doctor who can keep me in top shape from joint and ligament perspective is just what I needed. Knowledgeable and caring, I will definitely continue coming to him.

My appointments was at 8 and didn't see Dr until about 9:30. The wait time for new patients was long. I noticed patients after me were seen in and out. I became frustrated, but manage to smile through it all.

Everything went well, as expected. I was in for a general ortho. situation, not for surgery, so I can not rate the physician on that. I saw no issues. I was called back into the treatment room promptly, but waited over an hour to actually see the doctor. Of course, I have waited longer at other establishments. Overall, everyone was professional. I liked the doctor and think his assessment was accurate. I appreciated them extending an appointment to me on short notice. The folks in x-ray were professional and kind.

Doc Dunleavy was an extremely easy doctor to get along with, listened to my concerns, and gave me options instead of telling me what I needed to do. He actually seems to care about the well being of patients, rather than pushing meds or surgery, he pushes health.
