Undergraduate Education: North Carolina State University, BS Zoology; Optometry School: University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry; Professional Achievements and Associations: Fellow of American Academy of Optometry, North Carolina Optometric Society, Piedmont Optometric Society, American Optometric Society; Clinical Certifications and Specialities: Residency in Hospital Based Optometry, Low Vision Specialist; The reason I became an optometrist is to help others see to the best of their ability. My childhood optometrist made a big impact in my life by helping me to see and function well in school and for my activities outside of school. I know that without his help, I would have struggled in both areas. My favorite part of helping my patients is knowing that their life was made a little bit easier by my helping them see and use their vision to the best of their ability. In my spare time, I enjoy biking, hiking, gardening, canoeing, snow skiing and spending time with friends and family.
