CA
I'm Dr. Nusha Nouhi, a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Marina Health of California—a boutique virtual practice for adults navigating complex life transitions. My clients are often at a crossroads: facing burnout, managing chronic illness, preparing for surgery, or moving through major personal changes like a breakup, career shift, or a new life stage. I also work with Transitional Age Youth (ages 18–25) as they adjust to the demands of adulthood, identity formation, and independence. I specialize in helping clients who are doing “all the right things” on the outside but feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck on the inside. With a background in health psychology and years of experience working in both integrated medical systems and private practice, I bring clinical expertise with real-life flexibility and strategy. My approach is supportive, practical, and focused on what matters most to you. I blend client-centered care with evidence-based tools from CBT, ACT, and motivational interviewing to help you move forward with clarity and confidence. You’ll find therapy here is not about venting into the void—it’s about insight, action, and learning tools that actually work for your life. Whether you’re a professional at a breaking point, a caregiver who’s lost yourself in the process, or someone standing on the edge of a major decision—you don’t have to do it alone. I’ll meet you where you are and help you find your next step. Our first appointment is a complimentary meet and greet, scheduled for 30 minutes; if we agree to continue, follow-ups are 45-60 minutes weekly or every other week. Ongoing appointments for existing clients will be scheduled through my EHR platform, Simple practice.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means stepping into a calm, structured space where you don’t have to carry everything alone. I partner with clients who are juggling a lot—whether it’s a demanding career, caregiving roles, a recent diagnosis, or the invisible toll of major life changes. You’re used to being the one people rely on, but here, you get to focus on you. Clients often tell me they appreciate how grounded and clear they feel after sessions. My role is to help you reconnect with your own wisdom and strength—while also offering practical tools that help you make sustainable progress. I don’t push quick fixes, and I don’t rely on cookie-cutter advice. Instead, we’ll focus on understanding the deeper patterns that are keeping you stuck and create an individualized plan that actually fits your life. I work well with thoughtful, motivated adults who may be feeling disconnected from their energy, identity, or sense of direction. Many of my clients are navigating transitions they never saw coming—medical setbacks, relationship endings, career pivots, or the internal shifts that come with aging, moving, or simply evolving. I’ll bring structure, insight, warmth, and strategy to our sessions. You’ll bring your questions, your hopes, and your readiness to show up for yourself. Together, we’ll map out a path that honors where you’ve been and helps you build what’s next.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work starts with getting a full picture of who you are—not just your symptoms or stressors, but your strengths, values, and vision for what healing or growth could look like. In our first few sessions, I’ll ask thoughtful, targeted questions to better understand the dynamics at play in your life. We’ll define clear goals together, but we’ll also stay flexible. You’re a full person, not a problem to solve. I tailor sessions to match what’s most relevant for you that day. That might include talking through a decision, exploring an emotional pattern, reviewing behavior strategies, or reconnecting with parts of yourself that have felt buried under burnout or transition. Some sessions are insight-heavy; others are tool-focused. Either way, you’ll leave with something tangible to reflect on or apply between sessions. While I lean client-centered and integrative in style, I regularly draw from evidence-based approaches like cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT), motivational interviewing, and acceptance-based frameworks. I’m also comfortable supporting clients through grief, chronic illness, medical anxiety, and identity shifts—especially during times when everything feels like it’s changing at once. I offer a calm and nonjudgmental space where it’s safe to show up as you are—messy, in-progress, or unsure. And you won’t be doing this alone. Whether we meet weekly or biweekly, we’ll build a consistent rhythm that supports your goals and your capacity.
