He then completed his optometric education at the University of Houston, where he earned his Doctorate of Optometry and graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude). During that time, he earned various awards recognizing his high level of clinical excellence in patient care and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. He has completed internships specializing in the fields of ocular pathology and laser vision correction. Dr. Brunson presently serves as an adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Houston, College of Optometry for both optometry students and residents. During his time with Mann Eye Institute, he has participated as a clinical investigator in FDA trials for multifocal intraocular implants and as an author in various clinical and scientific papers. Dr. Brunson is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He has obtained the prestigious distinction of becoming both a Fellow and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry section of Cornea, Contact lens, and Refractive Technologies (CCLRT). He currently serves on the executive membership board for the Harris County Optometric Society and the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Society. Dr. Brunson resides in Houston near the Mann Eye Institute Fannin Street location with his wife and son. He enjoys attending sporting events, running, and spending time with his family.
