Psychologist
CA
Randy Ahn, Ph.D., MLIS, earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Washington. I’m a clinical psychologist with experience in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings, working with pre-K, K-12, college, and graduate school trainees. Most of my work has focused on children and parents, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate life’s challenges. My approach For young families, I provide parenting consultation and family work—this usually involves exploring why situations have become difficult, resetting family communication and expectations, and learning ways to encourage positive behaviors. The goal is to increase parent-child attachment and teach non-coercive parenting techniques. Mom, Dad, you can do this! For older adolescents and young adults, I work from a psychodynamic and positive psychology perspective, helping build insight into relationships and learning to navigate life’s difficult situations. My focus I primarily work with children and families experiencing family conflict, arguing, behavior management challenges, or everyday life stressors. Telehealth parenting support and individual therapy work well for older children, while I prefer in-person sessions for younger children. Adolescents often face intensified childhood problems alongside the developmental challenges of their age. Stress, anxiety, and depression related to school, friends, and home life are common, and talking with someone can help organize thoughts and emotions—especially if trust in others has been lost. I want to help. For young adults making their way in life, it can be overwhelming to suddenly face adult realities without feeling prepared. I’d like to explore your life story so far to help you see your future self more clearly.
