About Dr. Raymond H. Hernandez III
A San Antonio native, Dr. Hernandez graduated from Clark High School with numerous academic awards, including a National Merit Scholarship. He was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his father and uncle, both local physicians. Growing up, he became fascinated by the field of archeology after discovering arrowheads, artifacts, and bison teeth at his father’s ranch in Bandera county. He furthered this interest by earning a degree in anthropology at Texas A&M University. Dr. Hernandez then moved to California to study medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed an internship in San Antonio, then entered residency in ophthalmology at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Following residency, he moved to Chicago for a fellowship in glaucoma at Northwestern University School of Medicine. He returned home to San Antonio in 1996 to enter private practice and is board certified in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Raymond Hernandez attitude seemed rushed, and small talk. When asked about my current readers or if I needed any form of perscribe glasses. He shrugged his shoulders and stated " sure whatever works"
I will not see him again, nor suggest my friend or family.

I have been seeing Dr. Hernandez since 2015. He has been great! He is always attentive. He gives me clear explanations about my conditions and always come up with effective treatment plans. I had been with many eye doctors before I knew Dr. Hernandez, but no one else was as good as him. I strongly recommend him!

Dr. Hernandez takes his time and makes sure you understand what is happening at any moment. He is friendly, courteous, and a great listener. Never rushed or inattentive. The entire staff is friendly, and all communicate well. The office is clean, and the location works great for me.

In my experience, Dr. Hernandez is both brilliant and compassionate. He has been my eye doctor for over 20 years, and he has always been responsive. In addition, his expertise with my cataract surgery resulted in perfect vision. Everyone in the office is professional and helpful. I don’t think you could find a better ophthalmologist!

The office staff were friendly and quick to get me my appt. moved up when I had an eye issue. Doctor was thorough and personable. Only thing to be improved is how long a wait (the staff completed information at my stated appt. time; but then had to wait 45 minutes in a side room before the Doctor was ready to see me.
