About Dr. Rene Paez
Dr. Rene A. Paez was born and raised in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. After graduating from Colegio Maristas in 1987, he continued his higher education and received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), in Troy, New York. Rensselaer ranks among the top 50 universities in the United States and is well known in the technology, research and engineering fields. At the core of RPI’s educational approach “is the application of science to the common purposes of life.” Continuing this philosophy along with his desire to help others, Dr. Paez decided to enter medical school.
He received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School and completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2000. As a resident Dr. Paez excelled as a physician and gained the trust, respect and confidence of his attending physicians and peers and was named Administrative Chief Resident in charge of 36 resident doctors.
Dr. Paez went into private practice in Clearwater, Florida for two years before joining the team at South Miami OB-GYN Associates in 2003. In addition to his position at South Miami OB-GYN Associates, Dr. Paez currently serves as Chief of Service for the OB-GYN department at South Miami Hospital. Dr. Paez is board-certified and has received numerous awards including the Gynecological Endocrinology Award from the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

I have been going to South Miami OB/GYN for over 18 years now and have never had a bad experience. Yes, there have been times where I have waited longer than usual but it's a doctor's office and sometimes expected. The staff, medical assistants and doctors are all very knowledgeable and kind. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Dr. Paez was recommended to me as a specialist in high-risk pregnancy, as I had multiple pregnancies, was a first-timer, and was over 35 years old. Although I had a difficult pregnancy, with multiple admissions to the hospital and my babies were born prematurely; He knew how to manage the times, preparing me properly, so that they were born without inconvenience and in perfect health. Apart from his great professionalism, his human quality and sincere dedication are what have kept me as his patient for more than 15 years now.

I’ve been visiting this office for 12 years now and I’m always content with my experience. So much so that I knew my visit wouldn’t be covered by my new insurance but I wouldn’t go anywhere else!
The staff is always friendly and patient. Dr. Paez has always made my experience comfortable and is such a humble person!

I have been seeing Dr. Paez for over 17 years. I have never had issues with his medical or office staff. When I was pregnant and first started going to this office, I was recommended to see each doctor in case my primary was not available should I go into labor early. Dr. Paez is excellent! he delivered my second baby and helped me with a treatment for keloids. he really takes his time with you and makes sure that all your questions and concerns are answered. I always recommend this office to all my family and friends!
